Pirates and treasure hunting!

Updated: Aug 21, 2018

Arbuthnot Museum and Aberdeenshire Council Events are currently showcasing a ‘Pirates: Fact & Fiction’ exhibition that runs until 1 September 2018 . Ticket prices for the exhibition are £2 child, £4 adult, £10 family, free to under 5s.

In support of the exhibition, and to promote more footfall to local shops, Rediscover Peterhead have left some Jolly Roger flags with 12 shops across the town centre. You and your little ones can collect treasure maps from the museum and go hunting for the flags - we are in the final two weeks, so if you have not been out treasure-hunting yet, there's still time!

Prize winners are drawn each week by museum staff, and the 12 Jolly Rogers will be placed in different shops throughout August.

The weekly prize is a day pass to any council sports facility (this can be converted to a family swim if you let the museum know). At the end of the exhibition run in September, all the previous entries are put back into the pot and one winner drawn who will receive either a family swim for a month or a family ticket to the Macduff Marine Aquarium.

Once all 12 stamps have been collected from participating businesses, simply hand the map in at the museum. (Be sure to complete your contact details on your map!

With thanks to Arbuthnot Museum and the Aberdeenshire Museums Service for this fantastic initiative and great prizes. Good luck everyone!
